The idea of extremism as internal problem gets obscured in the rhetoric of American terrorism since all the mess is the result of its imperialistic adventure, and in the fight between assigning responsibility, ordinary Pakistanis are becoming a bait.

On the other hand, when people inside our country are openly calling for killing of Shias and show support for declaration of Ahmadis as non-Muslims, how can a person even hope for anything? Simple thing is that all of us get affected from violence/poverty/illetracy irrespective of our religous beliefs or ethnic origins, but nobody is ready to accept that. For all the optimism and resilience that Pakistanis take pride in, it is becoming harder and harder to believe in those ideals, specially when your fellow citizens are ready to slit your throat or atleast show support for those who want to do it.

War against extremism and terrorism is ours and we have to fight it on our own. It is not to say that US is excused, but that we have to move forward from blame game. For all the pain that America’s war has caused, only we can try to heal the wounds because nobody understands the pain better than us.
